Our digestive tracts are simple and sensitive, and when given foods that are confusing to them (like trans fats, artificial sweeteners and preservatives, and processed grains and sugars), they tend to react in ways we don’t like: gas and/or bloating, triggered fat stores, activated insulin response, etc. – all of which can lead to health problems like heart disease, hypertension, type II diabetes, obesity, and IBS.
